Description

This is a bridge located in the grounds of the Chapter House, about 30 metres north of the house. It dates from the late 17th century and is constructed of brick, featuring weathered brick coping over the parapet. The bridge has a single semicircular arch with a keystone, raised voussoirs, and splayed abutments. Historically, the bridge provided access to the Thames quay, where barges carrying coal and brick cargoes were loaded and unloaded.
