Description
Knights Tavern is a public house located on Thames Street, with a double gabled front that is stuccoed and likely dates back to the 17th century, although it was altered in the 19th century. The building features rusticated quoins and has two windows on the upper floor: a marginal glazed attic casement and sash windows framed by architraves. The first floor windows are flanked by panelled pilasters and have flat arches with incised ornament and pediments above. The front of the tavern includes two windows and three doors, all with segmental arches, and is adorned with engaged columns on pedestals that have composite capitals. Knights Tavern, along with No 2 Thames Street and Nos 5 to 16 and Nos 18 to 25 Thames Street, forms an important group of buildings.
