Description
The Square is a cottage dating from the 17th century, constructed with a combination of brick and timber framing. It features a thatched roof and is designed in an L-shaped plan with chimneys located at both ends and at the junction of the L. The north wing, which is from the late 17th century, has a front elevation that includes one post, beam, and brace exposed to the right, while the rest is finished in colourwashed brick. The front also has three casement windows and a modern gabled porch. The north wing contains one three-light casement window. At the rear, there is a catslide roof with exposed timber framing on the left side and irregular casements. Inside, the cottage features timber beams that are chamfered and stopped. The roof structure includes Queen Post roof trusses. There is a modern one-storey extension to the east.
