Description

The building is a school hall located approximately 25 metres north of the Gatehouse at the former Douai School in Upper Woolhampton. It was constructed between 1893 and 1895, with an addition made to the north in 1915, designed by F. A. Walters in a Free Perpendicular Gothic style. The hall is made of red brick with Bath stone dressings and features a tiled roof, five gabled dormers with casements, and a stack at the front between the third and fourth bays from the left. It is one storey high with an attic.

The north front has six bays, although the right-hand bay is obscured by a later block. The hall includes arched clerestory windows with three arched lights and returned hoodmoulds. There is a low one-storey addition at the front that has three-light mullioned windows and an arched doorway to the left.

Inside, the hall features moulded ceiling beams and a large fireplace at the north end, which has a moulded four-centred arch and a figure in a niche above. The building was originally constructed for St. Mary's College.
