Description

Burghfield Bridge is a road bridge built around 1812, likely designed by John Rennie. It is constructed from Bath stone and features a single elliptical arch with a rusticated arch-ring and keystones. The bridge has a band, solid parapet, and piers topped with weathered coping. To the north, there is a lower twin-arched brick bridge. The Kennet Navigation was established by 1724 and was acquired by the Kennet & Avon Canal Company in 1812, with John Hore serving as the engineer for the Navigation and John Rennie for the Canal.
