Description

Amner's Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with extensions added in the late 18th century and alterations made in the 19th and late 20th centuries. The building features a combination of timber framing and brick, with vitreous header patterning arranged in vertical bands between the windows. One gable is hung with tiles. The roofs are covered with old tiles and have a parallel ridge plan, with the earlier part of the house at the rear consisting of two framed bays. The farmhouse stands two storeys high with attics and has flank chimneys on the ridge.

The front of the house has five bays, a plinth, and two small hipped attic casements. The ground floor features sash windows with glazing bars, although those windows have been altered with later brick arches beneath the original frames. The central entrance has a six-panelled door with a rectangular overlight, and it is sheltered by a 19th-century gabled porch supported by decorative timber posts and a truss on a dark brick plinth.

On the north side of the farmhouse, there is a 19th-century wrought iron palisade fence on a small brick plinth, which has brick piers at each end. The fence is eight bays long, featuring bell-shaped heads between two horizontal rails and scroll supporting brackets. A small entrance gate of similar design is located between the third and fourth bays from the left.
