Description

The entrance lodge and gatepiers, located approximately 50 metres to the west of Woolhampton House, were built around 1858, likely by John Johnson. The structure is made of red brick with stone dressings, featuring a plat band, a tiled half hipped roof, and two stacks with over-sailing caps. It has a T-plan and is one and a half storeys high.

On the west front, there is an arched casement in the gable end with arched mullions, stone impost blocks, and a keystone. The central ground floor has a hipped canted bay with casements, flanked by one-storey wings that have shaped parapets curving down from the central block. These wings end in rusticated square piers topped with ball finials, each with an arched entrance featuring stone impost blocks and a keystone, although the entrance to the left is blocked.

The south front includes a half hipped wing that projects to the right, which has an arched casement in the gable end and a hipped canted bay below. To the left, there is a one-storey projection with a shaped parapet that curves down to a three-bay porch supported by two columns and topped with a central gable.

The two gatepiers with flanking walls to the south of the lodge are square rusticated brick piers with stone cornices, each crowned by carved stone armorial devices. The flanking walls are approximately two metres long; the wall to the south features an arched doorway with a stone keystone and a four-panelled door, along with a rusticated square brick pier to the right topped with a ball finial.
