WOOLHAMPTON UPPER WOOLHAMPTON SU 56 NE 3/22 Entrance Lodge And Gatepiers Approxi- mately 50 Metres To West Of Woolhampton House
GV II
Entrance lodge and gatepiers. Circa 1858, probably by John Johnson. Red brick with stone dressings, plat band, tiled half hipped roof and 2 stacks with over- sailing caps. T-plan. 1 1/2 storeys. West front: arched casement in gable end with arched mullions, stone impost blocks and keystone. Central ground floor hipped canted bay with casements; one storey flanking wings with shaped para- pets curving down from central block and ending in rusticated square piers with ball finials, each with arched entrance with stone impost blocks and keystone, that to left blocked. South front: half hipped wing projecting to right with arched casement in gable end and hipped canted bay beneath; one storey projection to left with shaped parapet curving down to 3 bay porch with 2 columns and central gable. 2 Gatepiers with flanking walls to south of lodge: square rusticated brick piers with stone cornices, crowned by carved stone armorial devices. Flanking walls approximately 2 metres long, that to south has arched doorway with stone keystone and 4-panelled door, and rusticated square brick pier to right with ball finial.
