Description
This description covers a pair of lodges, gatepiers, and gates at Woolley Hall, dating from the early 19th century. The structures are built from ashlar with stone slate roofs and feature cast iron elements. The lodges are hexagonal, single-storey buildings connected by cast-iron pedestrian gates to the gatepiers. Both lodges and piers include plinths, channelled stonework, moulded bands, friezes, and casement-moulded cornices, with blocking courses on the lodges. Each lodge has a facing doorway with a slab hood and a window on each canted side, although the windows are blocked. The lodges have pyramidal roofs topped with central ashlar stacks. The gatepiers feature front and rear pilasters, while the simple pedestrian gates and matching double carriage gates are adorned with a circular motif on the base, mid, and top rails.
