Description
The barn and stables at Oakhouse Farm, located approximately 40 metres northeast of the farmhouse, date from the early 18th century. The large threshing barn features a timber frame with a half hipped thatched and tiled roof, and a brick plinth that is weatherboarded. It consists of five framed bays and has a central old tiled gabled waggon entry, with aisles on both the north and south sides. The roof structure includes a double queen post design with clasped purlins, jowled posts, and both straight and curved braces. Attached to the left is a stable block that is one and a half storeys high, constructed of brick with a half hipped tiled roof and a stepped plinth. The south front of the stable block has two sash windows with glazing bars and segmental heads, positioned on either side of a blocked doorway that features a similar arch.
