Garden Wall North Of Entrance To South Fawley Manor Abutting Dog Kennel Lane

The garden wall located north of the entrance to South Fawley Manor, adjacent to Dog Kennel Lane, dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, with some repairs made in the 20th century. It is constructed of flint and brick, topped with tiled capping, and stretches approximately 96 metres in length and stands about 2 metres high.

Starting from the north and moving south, the wall features roughly 48 metres of 17th-century brickwork in English garden wall bond, which includes a brick plinth and a cogged course beneath a capping of three courses of tiles with a moulded stone ridge. There is also about 25.5 metres of 20th-century restoration in Flemish garden wall bond, featuring a rendered flint plinth and tiled capping over a cogged brick course. Additionally, approximately 42.5 metres of 18th-century brickwork is present on a flint plinth, with flint capping over a cogged brick course. The wall slopes down towards the entrance at the southern end.
