Description
Close Cottages are two cottages located on the west side of Newbury Road in Yattendon. They date from the 18th century, with a 19th-century addition. The cottages are constructed of red brick with grey headers and a plat band. They feature an old tile roof with a central ridge stack and three gabled dormers, each containing 2-light casements. The cottages are one and a half storeys high. The ground floor of the left cottage has a 2-light casement window, while the right cottage has a 3-light casement window, both flanking a central boarded door. The entrance is also located at the left-hand end of the left cottage. The right-hand block, which is the 19th-century addition, is made of red brick with a tiled roof and has an end stack on the left. It is one storey and has a garret, with one ground floor segmental-headed 3-light casement window.
