Description
Rectory Lane Cottages are two cottages located on the west side of Rectory Lane in Bradfield. They date from the late 17th century and have been altered and added to in the 20th century. The cottages are timber framed and have later pebbledash facing, with an old tile roof. The left side features a cross wing with a 3-light casement window in the gable, while the right side has a 20th-century hipped dormer with a 2-light casement. There is a stack in front of the ridge, offset to the left, and another stack at the rear. The cross wing consists of two framed bays and the cottages are 1½ storeys tall. On the ground floor, there are two 20th-century casement windows. To the left, there is a boarded door with a glazed panel and a 20th-century gabled timber porch, and to the right, a half-glazed door with a 20th-century gabled porch. Inside, the ground floor room on the left features a chamfered beam, joists, wall plate, and a chamfered shallow arched fireplace lintel.
