Description

The Marsh Hotel is a purpose-built corner public house dating from around 1840. It stands four storeys tall and is constructed of red brick featuring a diaper pattern of blue brick. The ground floor is stuccoed, and there are decorative dressings throughout. The building has one bay and a hipped slate roof, with a parapet that includes a bracket cornice. Above the second floor, there is an eaves cornice, and the corners are accentuated with long and short end quoins. Each floor has triple sash windows. The bar front is notable for its ten round-headed arches, which include six in the flanking one-storey wings, and there is a band of strapwork decoration above the ground floor that encloses a panel with the name of the hotel.
