Description
This barn, located approximately 10 metres east of the Long Barn public house, dates from around 1500. It originally had five western bays added and was re-roofed in the 17th century, with a 19th-century lean-to added to the north. The structure is timber framed, featuring weatherboarding and some red brick nogging, along with a brick lean-to to the north and partial 20th-century brick rebuilding to the south-west. The roof is covered with old tiles, with some slate on the lean-to. The barn consists of 10 framed bays, with large gabled streys in the second and eighth bays from the west, and a smaller 19th-century strey in the fifth bay from the west. Inside, the posts and transverse braces in the five eastern bays have continuous chamfered square moulding along their length. The interior also includes queen post trusses, longitudinal and transverse braces, and windbraces. This barn was formerly part of Cippenham Court Farm.
