Description

The retaining walls to the raised walk leading to the Riverside Garden Pavilion at Caversham Court date from the 17th century. They are primarily constructed of brick, with sections of flint featuring brick banding and buttresses on the western side. The walls vary in height from 8 feet to 5 feet, being lower on the eastern, more formal side. The retaining wall of the terrace walk extends northward to connect with the churchyard retaining wall, although this connection is interrupted by the entrance to the allotments, which has a flint base, brick lacing courses, buttresses, and upper courses.
