Description
Eleven tombs are located in St Peter's Churchyard, arranged irregularly against the side of a hill. A variety of headstones and slab stones are present, with the following notable table tombs: one dated 1858 to Charles Washington Lovegrove and family, featuring a tapering chest with a cross-gabled capping; one dated 1813 to John Flory Howard, with panelled end piers; one dated 1828 to Benjamin Lancaster, retaining cast iron arrow head rails and urn corner piers; a low table tomb dating to 1778; one dated 1802 to Mrs Van der Stegen, which is panelled; one dated 1765 to Margaret Bowd; one dated 1811 to the Stephens family vault, with reeded corner piers and a hipped chamfered slab; one dated 1802 to Elizabeth Lunn, which is in poor condition and has moulded panels, railings, and iron capping on standards; one dated 1848 to John Lawton; one dated 1790s to the Benwell family vault, with spear head rails and urn capped standards; and one C17 table tomb with chamfered eaves to capping.
