Description

Tudor Cottage, located at No 37 Surley Row, is a building dating from the 16th century or early 17th century. It has a 'T'-shaped plan and stands two storeys high with a loft, constructed from a timber frame with colour washed brick infilling and an old tile roof. The south-east front features a projecting gable on the right and a contemporary chimney with corbelled tops. The cottage has irregular casement windows, which are modern lead casements, and a ledged and boarded door. To the south and east, there is an 18th-century garden wall that includes a 20th-century pointed door in the angle. The building is very picturesque. Inside, there are inglenook fireplaces, and two posts have moulded sub-medieval caps, while two beams feature stop-chamfers.
