Description
Balmore is a substantial suburban villa built around the 1860s, featuring two storeys, an attic, and a basement. The exterior is finished in stucco over a stone basement, with moulded stone quoins and a string course above the ground floor. It has a moulded cornice and a hipped slate roof that includes two gabled dormers. The façade is arranged in a 2:3:2 bay pattern, with glazing bar sash windows. The centre of the first floor has a narrow window, while the ground floor features a large angled bay with three windows. To the left, there is an altered entrance with a segmental head, accessed by steps. The left side of the villa has a four-bay return with a full-length verandah on the ground floor, supported by barley sugar cast iron columns and also reached by steps at the rear. Inside, there is a large hall with mouldings on the plastered beams and a columned screen leading to the stair hall. Off the stair hall are two principal rooms, each with moulded cornices.
