Description

These are four houses, numbered 3 to 9, located on Kent Road in Southsea, Portsmouth. Dating from around 1800 to 1820, the houses exhibit variations in exterior finish: numbers 3, 5, and 9 have a stuccoed facade, while number 7 has a roughcast finish. They have a simple hipped roof covered in plain tiles, with a brick stack on the rear elevation to the right of numbers 7 and 9.

Each house is three stories high and one bay wide. Each property has a six-panelled door set within a pilastered frame; number 9 has a cornice above the door. The ground floor windows are four-pane sashes, with numbers 7 and 9 featuring sixteen-pane sashes. These sashes in numbers 3, 5, and 9 are set beneath cambered arches. The first floor of number 3 has a tripartite canted oriel window with a central sash and narrower flanking sashes, featuring pilasters dividing the lights, a frieze, and a moulded cornice. Numbers 5, 7, and 9 have four-pane sashes, with numbers 7 and 9 featuring sixteen-pane sashes. The second floor windows mirror those on the first floor, with numbers 3 and 5 having four-pane sashes and numbers 7 and 9 featuring sixteen-pane sashes. A brick dentil eaves course runs along the top of all the properties. The interiors have not been inspected.
