Description
This is a house, built in 1842 by TE Owen. It is located in Southsea, Portsmouth. The house is constructed of red buff brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a steeply pitched Welsh slate roof and a brick stack on the rear pitch. The house is two storeys and an attic, with three bays, the left bay projecting and gabled. The central bay features a four-panelled door under a gabled porch with a cross finial. The porch has a four-centred chamfered arched entrance with stone dressings. To the left of the door is a two-light casement window with 16 panes, stone jambs, and a stone drip mould. To the right is a pair of blind stone-mullioned slits. The first floor has two two-light casement windows in stone surrounds; the window to the left has 6 panes and the window to the right has 8 panes, with eaves above on corbel brackets with patterned faces. The first and second floors of the left bay each have a two-light 12-pane casement window set in stone surrounds, with the second-floor window being smaller, and a coped gable with kneelers. The rear of the house was partially rebuilt in the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected.
