Description

No. 42 Castle Road is a house built around 1820-1830. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a plain tile hipped roof with a central brick stack. The building has two storeys and two bays. The entrance bay on the left is recessed and contains a door with six moulded panels, framed by a doorcase with thin reeded pilasters and a flat hood supported by shaped brackets. To the right, in a projecting bay, there is a 15-pane pointed arch sash window with intersecting glazing bars at the top, set within a pointed brick-arched reveal. The first floor has two similar windows. The eaves are boxed. The interior has not been inspected.
