Description
The Gothic Temple in The Wilderness at Weston Park is an 18th-century garden building designed in a hexagonal shape. The three back walls are made of brick, while the three sides facing The Wilderness feature Gothic arches and are constructed of wood. It has an old tiled roof topped with a pineapple finial and rests on a stone plinth. Inside, the back walls and ceiling are plastered. Surrounding the three solid sides are wooden seats supported by tracery. This temple was frequented by the poet William Cowper, who lived in Olney and at Cowper's House in Weston Underwood.
