Description

The memorial urn to the dog Neptune is located in the Wilderness at Weston Park and dates from the 18th century. It is made of stone and features a square plinth with a moulded base and cornice. The urn itself is reeded and sits on a moulded base. The plinth is inscribed with a verse by William Cowper, serving as an epitaph for Sir John Throckmorton of Weston House's pointer dog, Neptune.
