Description

The Railway Station House, now used for commercial purposes, dates from around 1846 and is designed in a picturesque style. It features ornamental timber frame patterning and pebbledash infill. The building has steeply pitched roofs covered with modern tiles and tall grouped brick chimneys with diagonal shafts and corbelled heads.

It has one and two storeys, with the elevation facing the platform showcasing a gable on the right-hand side that includes an ornamental bargeboard and finial. The first floor has a modern casement window with a drip mould, and below it is a hipped-roof porch. To the left is a one-storey section with a door and a three-light mullion and transom window. A lean-to verandah on the right provides access to a one-storey booking hall.

The flank elevation facing the road features a large gable on the left with a central projecting stack and ornamental bargeboard, while the lower gable on the right has timber patterning, a bargeboard, and a finial. The rear elevation has another gable with ornamental bargeboard and finial, and the first-floor section projects to the right. Attached to the rear is a wall enclosing a space linked to two small gabled outbuildings.
