Description

Bow Brick Hill County First School is a school and master's house built in the 19th century. It features red brick construction with some tile hanging and has tiled roofs adorned with ornamental ridges and finials. To the left, there is a clock tower with an arcaded base, clock faces on the right and left, a bell at the rear with a canopy, and a tall copper spire with a finial. The school section on the left is one storey high, while the house on the right is two storeys, connected by a lower roofed section over the entry.

The school has a wood eaves cornice that forms a first-floor band for the house and a moulded brick plinth band. The school section includes a central half hipped gable beneath the clock tower, featuring two tall cross casements with pointed arches and tile wing tympana. Above, there is a stone band inscribed with the phrase "It is not good that the soul be without knowledge," along with four small gothic arched vents. The rear of the building has three single-light segmental arched windows and a gothic arched entry.

The school house has a projecting gable with a three-light segmental arched cross casement on the ground floor, and an altered casement above that retains original brackets for a small tiled hood. The plain flank elevation features tile hanging on the first floor. There are modern school buildings located at the rear.
