Description

Two houses of the late 18th century, located on Maidstone Road in Rochester. The houses are constructed of brick, with No. 57 painted. They have a double-depth plan and three storeys. The front elevation has three windows, the central one blank, indicating the position of the staircase. The windows are mostly 8 and 16-pane sashes set in reveals, with rubbed brick flat arches above, to all floors except the ground floor of No. 57, which contains a late 20th-century shop window. The paired central doorways are topped with round-headed arches and feature panelled doors (at No. 55) and a half-glazed door (at No. 57), both under fanlights with glazing bars. The rear of the houses exhibits some tripartite sash windows.
