Description

A pair of mid-18th century houses, now with shops, located on Rochester High Street. The houses were originally listed separately. They are constructed of red brick, with No. 146 painted, and have a roof of Kent tiles at the gable ends. The houses are of double depth construction and have end stacks to each range. They are three storeys high. The front elevation has a regular six-window range. Above, a parapet with a moulded brick cornice and stone coping. The upper floors contain 12-pane sash windows in reveals, with hornless sashes (except for the second-floor sash at No. 146), all set under flat window arches, which are painted on No. 148. Late 20th century shop fronts have been installed.
