Description

This is a former town house, now used as a shop with storage space above. It dates from the early 18th century and is located on Eastgate in Rochester. The building is constructed of red brick with a renewed synthetic tile hipped roof, which sits end-on to the street. It features a lateral brick stack. The house is two storeys high, with an attic space. The front facade has a symmetrical appearance with three windows on each floor. A flat-roofed dormer window features two casements. There is a modillion eaves cornice and 12-pane hornless sash windows with flush surrounds, each set beneath a rubbed brick flat arch on the first floor. A 20th-century shop front has been added, incorporating large plate-glass windows and a recessed central doorway.
