Description
61 and 63 Maidstone Road are a pair of houses built in the late 18th century. They are constructed of gault brick and have a renewed concrete interlocking tile roof. The houses are double depth with stacks at the roof valley and stand two storeys tall.
The front of each house features a one-window range and two-light casement dormer windows. The ground and first floor windows are all set under rubbed red brick arches. Number 63 retains its original 12-pane horned sash windows in reveals, while number 61 has a renewed casement window on the first floor and a plate-glass horned sash window on the ground floor.
The doorways are adorned with round-headed rubbed brick arches, imposts, and shallow reveals. Both houses have panelled doors with fanlights; however, the fanlight is blocked on number 61, while number 63 has glazing bars. The rear of the houses features 20th-century casement windows.
