Description

The Vines is an early 18th-century house with a later restoration. The ground floor is built of brick, while the upper portion is timber-framed and clad in weatherboarding. The main range has a gable-end roof covered in Kent tiles, and a rear wing has a hipped slate roof. Chimneys are located at the ends of the building.

The front facade is asymmetrical, featuring a three-window arrangement. A moulded cornice, decorated with modillions, runs along the top. All windows are 12-pane hornless sash windows with moulded architraves; five windows are on the first floor, with the side windows being narrower, and four are on the ground floor, again narrower to each side. External shutters are fitted to the ground floor windows. The centrally located doorway has a moulded surround with a shell hood supported by console brackets. The door itself is of raised and fielded panels, with a twin overlight above. Original wrought-iron lamp brackets and a decorative foot scraper are present.

The interior includes wooden panelling and doors. A particular feature is a fully panelled room on the ground floor.
