Description

Middleton Farm Cottage is a cottage that was inscribed "1514" and restored in 1884 by Alfred Lord Tennyson. It is constructed of stone rubble with ironstone on the front elevation and features red brick dressings. The cottage has a tiled roof with three brick chimneystacks and three gabled dormers. It is two storeys high and has four windows, which are casements with terracotta surrounds that include vine leaf motifs. There are two gabled doorcases. While little remains of the earlier farmhouse, the cottage serves as an interesting example of the architectural style associated with the Tennyson estate.
