Description
Ivy Cottage is a cottage dating from the early 17th century, with additions and alterations made in the mid 19th century and late 20th century. It features a brick nogged timber frame and brickwork, topped with a tile roof. The building is single storey with an attic and consists of two bays, along with a brick addition to the south and a rear wing to the east, creating a "T" shaped plan. It has a sandstone plinth and small framing with tension and angle braces, while all gables are constructed in brick. The front door is modern, and the windows are cast iron lattice casements, following the Tollemache Estate style, with those on the first floor located in gabled dormers. A large central stack with four flues is present. Inside, the cottage has exposed ceiling joists, but no visible beams are noted.
