Description
The Fountain is a small cottage orné built around 1830, located on Bonchurch Village Road. It is two storeys high and constructed from stone rubble with tooled quoins. The cottage features a steeply pitched gable end roof that is tiled, along with pierced bargeboards. At the center, there is a pair of diagonally set red brick chimneys. On the first floor, there are two small gables with pierced bargeboards above two glazing bar casements. The ground floor has two similar casements. A large rustic porch with wooden columns and a tiled roof is present, featuring large pierced and waved bargeboards at the gable. The entrance has a studded ridged door. There is also a low link to a former coach house, which is one and a half storeys tall and has a pierced bargeboard gabled semi-dormer. The overall appearance of the building is picturesque.
