Description

The columbarium at Shalcombe Manor is a disused dovecote, possibly dating from the 16th century. Its exterior is constructed of stone rubble with ashlar quoins and it is currently without a roof. The structure is rectangular, featuring gables and a central doorcase with a cambered architrave. Inside, the columbarium retains its clunch nesting boxes. There is one graffito dated 1778, but the dovecote itself appears to be much older.
