Description
Chessell Farmhouse is a house that was originally a farmhouse, dating from the early 18th century and altered in the early 19th century. It is constructed of Island stone rubble with red brick dressings and features a tiled roof with two lower courses of stone slates and end brick chimneystacks. The building has two storeys and attics in the gable ends, with three windows. The gable ends are supported by kneelers. The early 19th-century windows are 12-pane sashes. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door, with the top four panels glazed, and is accompanied by a later brick and glazed porch. There is a deep plinth at the base. The left side elevation shows brick tumbling in and has a small window for the attics, while the right side also has brick tumbling in and small windows. Attached to the main structure is a lower two-storey L-shaped wing that features 20th-century casement windows.
