Description

Weirside Cottage is a late 17th or early 18th century two-bay end chimneystack house, altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed stone rubble with a tiled roof and brick end chimneystacks. The rear has a catslide roof. The cottage has two storeys and two windows. The windows are 19th-century casements, including a larger window on the ground floor right, designed to allow for the passage of a coffin. A central 19th-century stone porch with a gable and kneelers is present. An open fireplace has been blocked, and a bread oven has been removed. The original cupboard staircase no longer exists, but the plank doors remain. A later outshut is attached to the rear.
