Description
Briarley and Shelley are a pair of cottages dating from the 18th century. The right-hand cottage, Briarley, is constructed of stone rubble with brick dressings and features a thatched roof with a brick chimney stack. It has two storeys and two casement windows, along with a slate and brick gabled weather-porch. The left-hand cottage, Shelley, is of a lower elevation and has a front made of red brick in stretcher bond, while its left side is built of coursed clunch. It has a half-hipped thatched roof with a brick chimney stack, stands at one and a half storeys, and includes two windows. The front of Shelley features one eyebrow dormer and two 19th-century sash windows with vertical glazing bars only.
