Description

Lark Rise is a house located in Brighstone, dating from the early 17th century. It is a two-bay lobby entrance house that has been altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building is constructed from Isle of Wight stone rubble and features ashlar quoins. The roof is thatched and half-hipped at one end, with a central brick chimneystack. The house has one storey and an attic in the gable end, with two windows, including a 19th-century dormer and a late 18th-century cambered casement window. The ground floor includes a later lean-to extension. Inside, there are beams with 3-inch chamfers and lambs tongue stops, two winder staircases, wide floor joists, and a bacon loft.
