Description

The Central Hotel dates from around 1840 to 1850. It is a three-storey building constructed of painted rubble with painted brick dressings and quoins. The front is divided into two parts, both with hipped roofs covered in slate. The right-hand portion is wider and has two glazing bar sash windows, featuring blind semi-circular heads on the ground floor. A central doorway is topped with a semi-circular fanlight. The left-hand section has a single window and an angled corner facing Market Street, featuring a panelled and glazed door. Three windows are irregularly spaced along the return. The Central Hotel forms a group with numbers 66 to 70 (even) on the High Street.
