Description
Nos 71 to 73 on St James's Street are late 18th-century buildings that stand three storeys tall, constructed with grey headers and red brick dressings. No 73 was previously painted. The buildings feature a gable end roof covered with old tiles and a wooden eaves cornice. Each house has one window, with sash windows present; only No 73 has glazing bars on the first floor. The windows have moulded flush wood frames, block sills, and flat brick arches. No 71 includes a modern shop window but retains reeded Doric pilasters. No 72 has a window similar to that of No 73 on the first floor. The recessed door of No 72 consists of four fielded panels and is framed by a doorcase with thin strips and a bracketed hood. No 72 still has its plinth, while No 73 features a modern shop front. These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 67 to 76.
