Description
Nos 67 and 68 on St James's Street are mid-19th century Italianate buildings. They are three storeys tall and constructed of stucco, featuring rusticated quoins and a moulded string course between the storeys. The low-pitched gable end slate roof has a modillion eaves cornice.
On the second floor, there are five recessed sash windows with moulded architraves and block sills supported by consoles. The first floor has three windows, with the centre window being a three-light bay that includes round-headed side lights. The central window has a square head with rounded corners, and is framed by panelled pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice, along with a panelled apron. The outer windows are tripartite, following the same design as the bay, featuring round-headed outer lights and a flat centre, with thin Doric pilasters and block sills.
The ground floor shop front is modern but retains elements of an earlier design in the tops of the windows and features broad pilasters with block capitals.
Nos 67 to 76 form a group.
