Description

This is a mid-19th century Italianate terrace building, comprising numbers 26 and 30 to 80 (even) on Carisbrooke Road. The three-storey building is constructed of stucco with a low-pitched gable end slate roof, featuring a bracketed eaves cornice. The facade incorporates a moulded second-floor sill course and a block string course above the ground floor. The ground floor is banded with rustication. The windows are sash windows with moulded stucco surrounds and block sills resting on consoles to the ground floor. The fenestration alternates between three-light stucco bay windows on the first floor and two windows with pediments—one segmental and one straight-sided—with cast iron bracketed balconies. The recessed fielded panelled doors are topped with semi-circular fanlights, all set within a moulded stucco arch on imposts.
