Description

Merriefields Cottage is a house dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and has been heightened with five courses of brick. The cottage features a slate roof and two brick chimneystacks. It stands two storeys tall with attics and has three windows. There are two gabled dormers and three 19th-century sash windows with vertical glazing bars, set within moulded wooden architraves that have cambered heads on the first floor. The entrance includes a doorcase with a flat hood and a trelliswork porch, leading to a five-panelled door, of which the top two panels are glazed.
