Description
Yarmouth Mill is a former tide mill and miller's house, now functioning as a house. It dates from the mid 18th century and was altered in the 19th century. The building is primarily constructed of red brick in English bond, featuring some grey headers and bands of grey headers between the first and second floors, as well as above the second floor. It has a slate roof with end brick chimneystacks and stands three storeys tall with attics. The front facade has six windows, all with cambered heads. The first floor includes two sash windows, while the other floors mainly have casements. There are two simple doorcases; the left side was formerly the mill, and the right side served as the house. The north front has five S-shaped iron ties and a 16-pane sash window, while the south front features five S-shaped iron ties, three 19th-century sashes with verticals only and horns, and three 20th-century sashes. The ground floor is made of coursed stone rubble. To the right, there is a one-storey 18th-century addition built of red brick with a hipped tiled roof. This addition has a 20th-century window and one S-shaped iron tie. The rear elevation displays irregular fenestration, with mainly 19th-century casements set in 18th-century surrounds.
