Description
The Methodist Church, located on St James's Street in Yarmouth, was built in 1881 in the Perpendicular style. The front facade is constructed of ashlar, while the remaining elevations are brick with a slate roof. The church has a gable end with stone coping and kneelers. A prominent feature is the elaborate east window, which incorporates a triple arch with crockets. The central arch is double, featuring two tiers of cinquefoil lights with a sexfoil above; the side arches have two tiers of cinquefoil-headed lights. To the right of the window is an arched doorcase with a dripmould that extends into the plinth. A south-east tower is present, exhibiting a pointed arch at its base and a squat, square tower above. This upper section contains a triple trefoliated opening and is surmounted by a truncated octagonal tower topped with a stone spire and gargoyles. The side elevations are of brick. A brick wall extends from the front of the church, featuring a squat pier with a pyramidal stone top and cast iron spear railings.
