Description
Spring Vale House and White Cottage, dating from around 1850 and circa 1830 respectively, are two-storey buildings located on Spring Vale Road. Spring Vale House features a stucco facade flanked by pilasters, a plinth, and a low pitch hipped slate roof with wide eaves. It has five windows, two of which are in a shallow bow on the west side, with recessed sash windows that have glazing bars and block sills. The bay adjoining the bow on the east side breaks forward slightly. There is a wooden trellised porch at the entrance.
White Cottage, which adjoins Spring Vale House, is also two storeys with a stucco facade, pilasters, a band between the storeys, and a plinth. It has a low pitch hipped slate roof and wide eaves, featuring three windows, with the centre one being blind and set in a panel above the doorway. The windows are recessed, sash with glazing bars, and have block sills. The entrance includes a recessed glazed door with a rectangular fanlight, flanked by Tuscan pilasters and an entablature with a cornice that returns to the stringcourse. A conservatory has been added to the east side of White Cottage.
