Description
Bellcroft House is a very fine 18th-century mansion now converted into flats, located on Stapiers Road. The building is two storeys high and features four windows in the main block, with the centre section projecting forward beneath a pediment that has a fluted stucco semi-circular lunette. There is a small balcony supported by plain stucco columns. To one side, there is a three-window wing that includes an attached contemporary greenhouse, which covers the entrance. The garden front showcases an elegant central bow that extends through both storeys and contains round-headed windows. Inside, the mansion boasts a very good staircase from the period and particularly impressive contemporary decoration in the drawing-room.
