Description
Old School Cottage is a former school house now used as a house, built around 1846 by Mr. John Woodnall. It is constructed from coursed rubble from the Isle of Wight, with red brick dressings and a slate roof, featuring a cruciform shape. The building has one storey and attics, with three windows. The centre has a projecting gable with stone coping, kneelers, and an iron weathervane with a clock below. The attic includes one cambered two-light casement window with marginal glazing bars. On the ground floor, there is a central projecting wooden doorcase with an open pediment, a semi-circular fanlight, engaged Tuscan columns, and panelled reveals, along with narrow side lights. The ends of the building have one window each, with a two-light casement with marginal glazing bars on the right and a three-light casement with marginal glazing bars on the left. The left gable features a Gothick glazed window.
