Description
The Chequers Inn is an inn that likely originated in the 18th century, with a mid-19th century left wing. It is faced with large slates and features a tiled roof that is hipped on the left side and half-hipped on the left wing. The building has two brick chimneystacks and is two storeys high with two windows. The ground floor has 19th century casements with shutters. There is a brick porch located at the angle of the left wing. A late extension on the right side is noted but is not considered of special interest. Slate hanging is very rare on the Isle of Wight.
