Description
Bow Bridge is a road bridge dated 1769, constructed of ashlar stone. The downstream side features a central round-headed arch with a keystone and a decorative band. The parapet consists of three courses of tooled ashlar with a moulded cornice, supported by two square piers topped with pyramidal caps. The upstream side has a similar arch but boasts a larger parapet, also made of three courses of tooled ashlar and a moulded cornice. At the Newport end, there is one pier with a pyramidal cap, although the caps are missing from three other piers. A plaque on the parapet wall reads, "Erected in the year 1769 to Newport Quay."
